NO projects, but a quirky, personal sensibility. I choose each photo and placed it to enhance each essay or poem. Reading Wild at the Edges is meant to be a journey, one that you can savor, study and enjoy in small moments of time. I have heard from many readers that Wild at the Edges is a great gift for artists of all types.  Many of the essays focus on what it means to be an artist –  the disappointments and the triumphs.

Readers’ Comments:

Virginia Spiegel ’s book is for anyone interested in the creative process…how the personal is transformed into the universal. The text provides wise insights into living a genuine life as a person and as an artist. The photos of nature and art dazzle, inspire and soothe the soul.

I’ve long been a fan of Virginia… not just her artwork, or her writing, but the person she is. Virginia has breathed herself into each image, each word, each page of this wonderful book. My admiration has climbed even higher!

A lovely book, a peaceful read, yet, full of adventure and excitement as I imagine being on your journey, so removed from everyday life. What a beautiful gift that you & your sister have shared, your time in the woods and on the water. The quilts, the photos, the haikus, the stories… it’s just a delicious little book!

Virginia Spiegel may be Wild at the Edges, but the rest of her is sensitive, fun, and the kind of travel companion anyone would love to have for a great adventure in the outdoors. I’m right there with her in the wild places as well as the quiet places with her photos and words. I appreciate her sharing the journey of experience to art in this jewel of a book.

Having recently purchased a Virginia Spiegel Boundary Waters work this book makes me love the work even more. The two best presents I have purchased for myself in a long time. Liked the book so much I am ordering more for Christmas gifts.

The spectacular artwork, combined with the enlightening text, the wondrous haiku and the beautiful photography all combine to make this book a treasure for anyone who loves nature, art or life! Additionally it is such a powerful lesson for women about life on the edge, facing the fear and truly living in the moment. What an inspiration, Virginia!
