ToteTuesday 4 – The big finale!

Logo by Jeanelle McCall

ToteTuesday 4 is the big finale of Fiberart For A Cause’s 2010 fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.  We have raised over $9000 so far with a goal of $12,000.

I know we CAN do it because we have a great line-up of themed fiber-art totes and individual artwork to make it happen.  For example:

Susan Brubaker Knapp donated this small art quilt.  From Susan: I chose the subject, a pink rose, to honor my mother, Eleanor Carter Brubaker, who is a breast cancer survivor. It is a wholecloth painted piece based on a photo I took in my garden. Working from the photo, I  drew the rose on white cotton fabric, then painted it with acrylic  fabric paint before stitching it. My mom is one of my biggest supporters; we made our first quilt together when I was about 10 years old. She was a Home Economics teacher, and is a very  precise piecer, so I’m sure that trying to teach me drove her nuts!

Katherine McNeese has gathered all things Joggles (Their motto:  We’re all about creating and creativity, all the time) in this great tote for mixed-media artists and bookmakers:

The contents include a ZigZag book kit, 6×6″ ring book, 8×8″ blank board book, black, 8×8″ blank board kit white, Index book ,wire album, gaffer tape pak, and much more in addition to this book:

Mini-previews of all the totes that will be up for bid on Tuesday, February 23 are here.

The link to the Monday, February 22 preview with ALL the details will be posted here on my blog.

ToteTuesday 3 – Success and a Special CD Offer from Karey B.

Logo by Jeanelle McCall

Thank you for a wonderful day yesterday.  ToteTuesday 3 raised $3329 for a total raised to date of $9004 for the American Cancer Society.

We are not done fundraising yet!  Don’t forget we have the finale ToteTuesday on Tuesday, February 23.  There are mini-previews up now and news of a special challenge from Art Cloth Studios coming soon.

We had many inquiries about Karey Bresenhan’s one-of-a-kind CD with 100 close-up flower images, almost all taken by Karey at Monet’s Garden in Giverny, France.

The CD was part of a Karey B. tote purchased for a $300 donation by an anonymous donor for her sister who is battling cancer for the third time. She kindly gave her permission share the CD with others as a way to raise even more money for the ACS.

Karey, as Honorary Chairperson of Fiberart For A Cause, is making the CD available for a $50 donation to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause.
If you would like a copy of the CD,
1.  Make a $50 donation through Fiberart For A Cause here.
2.  Send an e-mail (Subject line:  KAREY B. CD) with your snail mail to me at Virginia(at)VirginiaSpiegel.com
3. I will forward your name/address on to Karey who will zip a CD out to you.

Deadline to donate and order is Sunday, February 28.

PLEASE NOTE:  Your $50 donation to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause includes the right to use any or all of the images, copyright free, for personal, non-commercial, non-exclusive use.  You DO have the right to use the images in quilts but not to produce multiple quilts of the same image for sale. You do not have the right to pattern the images or publish them in hard copy or online.

ToteTuesday 3 opens at 11 a.m. CST today!

Logo by Jeanelle McCall

Let the shopping begin!  Well, OK, not until 11 a.m. CST today.  But you can go and see all the fiber-related themed totes now here and the auction will take place on the very same page.

There is a great line-up of 13 themed totes and three individual art works.  And, of course, everything is one-of-a-kind.  And it’s a fundraiser with 100% donated directly to the American Cancer Society.

What more could you ask for?   WELL, I refuse to list retail value for every tote, but perhaps the following examples will give you an example of how generous sponsors/donors have been:

Sue Bleiweiss, on behalf of 3 Creative Studios, specifically requested an opening bid of $75, less than 50% of retail value on the 3 Creative Studios tote.  The tote includes a gift certificate for any one online class with Sue.

The tote for Close To Your Heart (sponsored by Peggy Schroder) was donated by Fannie Narte and features a secret message written inside.  This bag was featured in Haute Handbags. The opening bid for the Close To Your Heart tote is $135, less than 50% of retail.  The tote includes a small art quilt by Pat Owoc.

I know I don’t need to list the retail values of all the totes; you already  know that  the sponsors/donors for ToteTuesday have been VERY generous so YOU will be able to participate in this fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Fire up that charge card and zip on over to the ToteTuesday auction webpage.  The preview is open now, opening bids/Go For The Gold bids go up at 10:50 a.m., and the shopping begins at 11 a.m. CST.

Thank you for your generous support of ToteTuesday, a Fiberart For A Cause fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.  Our goal is $12,000.  The final ToteTuesday will be next week, February 24.
