Peace by Lynn Krawczyk

Oh, boy!  Collage Mania is going to be great!

Karen Stiehl Osborn has been working hard and has 27 of the 39 pages finished with ten collages per page.  With ten collages per pages, you will be able to see details, but the pages will load quickly. Karen has been adding links, collage sizes and dedications also.

I can’t thank Karen enough for taking over this part of Collage Mania.  It is a TON of time and work.  Thank you, Karen!

I’ve just started working my way through choosing art to feature here, but I am truly overwhelmed by the generosity of the artists who donated such great art to our cause.

So mark your calendar for the Preview beginning April 29.  You are going to need all the time between then and May 5 to really LOOK at the art and make your SHOPPING list!

The directions on how to participate in Collage Mania are here.

100% of the proceeds are donated directly to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause.

Inspiration for Thursday, April 9 – 2009

Alone

I was so excited about Collage Mania artwork that I posted it instead of this on Tuesday.  Back to the regular schedule next week.

They burned big chunks of the prairie at the nature center in the last couple of weeks.  These young sumacs were the only thing left standing in this area; they looked like a miniature forest.  I saw several killdeer the day I took this photo.  There is hope for these ground nesters wherever development can’t occur.

Running in Circles by Sherry Carrigan

Karen Stiehl Osborn received 383 collage jpegs by 161 artists from around the world for Collage Mania, May 5 – 7.  Last year we had 220 collages and raised $13,000, so our goal of $20,000 may well be achievable!

All the collages will be revealed beginning April 29 so you will have time to make up your shopping list.  In the meantime, I will feature several collages here each week.

It’s easy to participate in Collage Mania 2009; adding to your art collection while donating to the American Cancer Society.  But, of course, there are nuances and so please take the time to read the patron directions before May 5.

No Fooling – Free eBook/slideshow full of copyright-free photos

photohuntlogo

The Inspired by Photos project, masterminded by Linda Matthews of Creative Textile and Quilting Arts, is a beautiful free ebook/slideshow in collaboration with the myself and the following quilt artists:  Dena Crain, Claire Fenton, Martha Ginn, Loreen Leedy, Linda Matthews, Christine Predd,  Kim Ritter, Louise Schiele, Emmie Seaman.

According to Linda,

The photo hunt begins at the  “Inspired by Photos” Photo Hunt Headquarters and will take you on a journey to visit some very talented quilt artists. Along the way your copyright knowledge will be tested – how much do you really know? And at the end of your journey a wonderful surprise awaits – the free “Inspired by Photos” downloadable ebook/slideshow.

The “Inspired by Photos” ebook/slideshow is a collection of copyright free images donated by 10 leading quilt artists and compiled into a beautiful downloadable pdf ebook with a slideshow option. Together with a short commentary, these quilt artists will introduce you to their amazing world of art quilting and you will catch a glimpse of the inspiration that moves them.

The ebook is a great tool to keep handy on your desktop for times when you need a jolt of inspiration. It can be read like an ordinary ebook, or launch it full screen to enjoy the picture show and be inspired by the beautiful images and thoughts.

And if that’s not enough, the clickable links inside the ebook will take you right to the quilt artist’s website where you can browse around to see the results of their own inspiration.

And did I mention it’s free? That’s right, each quilt artist has kindly donated a selection of images from their own personal photo collection just for this event.

To find out how you can get a copy of the ebook, visit Inspire!

I was happy to contribute my photos to this copyright-free eBook as Linda’s mission is to educate artists about copyright.  Have fun with the Photo Hunt and enjoy the photos!

Today is the deadline for submission of jpegs for Collage Mania 2009.
