Iterated Art

Well, that WAS a manic two days! Thanks to generous artists and patrons, Collage Mania raised over $13,000 for the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause.

Not only was the art great, but Collage Mania patrons were unbelievably generous in frequently donating more than the requested minimum donation.

All acquired collages will remain indefinitely on my website as a resource for collage artists. Servers update at different rates, so please do a REFRESH and, eventually, you should see that all the Collage Mania pages have a CLOSED notice at the top.

If you were a patron of Collage Mania, I will try my best to have all the patron names/e-mails to the artists today. But, in any case, contact me if you haven’t heard from your artist by next Monday, May 12.

Artists – If your artwork was acquired, the random prize drawing for over $500 in prizes donated by these artists and businesses will be held no later than Friday, May 9:

Inspiration and The Garbage Day Report

banana.jpg
Grit

Maybe this belongs over on The Garbage Day Project, but there is just something about this photo. I think it is the gritty gravel behind the banana that makes it for me.

Of course, there’s a new post in The Garbage Day Project. It is, in fact, more of the sleek and shiny kind of photo.

And a reminder that Collage Mania continues today with the minimum donation of $40 beginning at 9 a.m. CST.

Collage Mania raised $8000 yesterday; perhaps we can go all the way to $10,000 today.

Collage Mania opens Monday at 9 a.m CST with 235 collages available for a minimum donation of $80 to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause. On Tuesday, May 6, the minimum donation will be $40. All the details you need to participate and all the collages are here.

Below is a little Q/A about Collage Mania from people who read all the details on how to participate here, but needed a clarificaion.

Hey, that’s what this weekend is for; please ask if you have ANY additional questions. I am expecting Monday morning to be a tad hectic.

1. Will there be a different “address” for Collage Mania on Monday morning?
No, you will just be able to start shopping at 9 a.m. CST. The url remains:

http://www.virginiaspiegel.com/CollageMania081.html

2. Can I include more than one request in one e-mail?
Yes. You can say you want all collages of this list that are available, or five collages on this list in priority order, or these two, if available, and if not, these two.

It is strictly first-come/first-serve, so plan ahead and make your list today including all the requested details.

3. Is the donation site secure?
The donation site is part of the whole American Cancer Society fundraising process, so, yes. You will receive an immediate electronic receipt directly from the American Cancer Society.

4. Why when I click the “donate” star, does it say that I am donating to the Forest Lake Relay For Life?
You can read the whole story here.

But, in brief, Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s largest grassroots fundraising effort. Fiberart For A Cause is part of the Forest Lake, MN Relay For Life for the simple reason that my sister is chair of that Relay. If your community has a Relay For Life, I urge you to become involved. It puts the fun in fundraising!

The money you donate goes directly to the ACS, but FFAC and the Forest Lake Relay For Life receive “credit” for their efforts. My sister and I raise funds for the ACS in honor of our Dad, a thirteen-year survivor of colon cancer.

5. How will I receive my collage?
After your donation is confirmed, I will send the artist your e-mail and they will contact you to arrange shipping. If you haven’t heard from them by the end of the week, let me know. I will be sending all the patron e-mails to artists by the end of May 7. Patience, grasshoppers!

More questions? Go ahead and leave a question as a comment or you can e-mail me privately.
