The ten artists selected for the 2008 Invitational Reverse Auction, March 10 - 13, are now on my website.

Each year only ten artists are invited to participate and their artwork is offered to patrons for a donation to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause. The minimum donation decreases each day; wait too long and your favorite piece of fiberart will gone.

I anticipate some artwork will be acquired quite early in the Reverse Auction as the artwork is truly fabulous by artists well-known in their respective areas of expertise. There will be stunning examples of art quilts, surface design, wearable arts, jewelry and more. The generous artists have gone all out to offer the best of their artwork.

I will let you think about what this photo might be. Henry David Thoreau said, “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”

And for subscribers to Art, Nature, Creativity, Life, I have added something else new on the subject of mysteries. It’s a small essay, The Wily Ways of Poetry, under “New Stuff 2008″ along with two new haikus.

“With One Voice” is the theme of this year’s Breaking Traditions art quilt exhibit to be held September 26-28. According to curator Lynn Krawczyk,

“This year we will give a voice to all the good that is present in the world. From the next door neighbor who helped to shovel your snowy walk, to organizations built solely on the purpose of serving those in need, to famous individuals using their influence to do good. We honor all those who stand up with say, in one loud clear voice, “I will make a difference.”

In keeping with the theme, Lynn has decided to support Fiberart For A Cause by asking participants to make their $10 entry fee out to the American Cancer Society.

There are numerous prizes to be given away in random drawings, 10 postcards made by me for the first ten artists to send in their art quilt, and a great prize package for the art quilt chosen as the Exhibit Favorite.

You can read all the details on Lynn’s website.

Inspiration and ATC Quarterly

I have added the last of the ATCs for Collage Mania artists here. I really hadn’t made any ATCs prior to this except for Pokey Bolton’s 1000 Artist Trading Cards, but it is a great little art form.

I have subscribed to the ATC Quarterly, partly because its editor, Ronna, is keeping to a printed format as long as she can. That deserves some support.

Ronna’s blog is also worth a visit; we share an interest in giant “things” used in outdoor advertising.
