Approaching Storm by Leni Wiener

Although I won’t be announcing the ten artists invited to participate in the 2008 Invitational Reverse Auction (of Fabulous Fiberart) until January, I couldn’t wait to share another one of the great artworks.

This artwork is by Leni Wiener and was made specifically for the Reverse Auction. More information about the Invitational Reverse Auction, a Fiberart For A Cause fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, is here.

Inspiration and The Garbage Day Project

Winter Stalks

I love any plant that is unusual or huge. These stalks are from Giant Miscantus; they grew about 10′ tall. Now they have bent over in the wind and the snow, making semaphores against the terrace timbers. The colors of the stalks are so delicate this time of year.

On The Garbage Day Project, there’s a new photo from the garbage trail, plus an update on the condition of Winter Trellis that I made a year ago.

Shrine of the Red Grass Appearing Moon

Carol Wiebe of Silversprings Studio recently linked to my Moon Shrines in blog post entitled Beautiful Necessities about artists working in the shrine format.

In a wonderful coincidence, Fibre&Stitch will be publishing an article in its next issue about the creation of the Moon Shrines, from studio journal to final works.

Go With The Flow 18

Even though it’s not overtly apparent (OK, it should be if you look closely), I conceived of the Go With The Flow series as shrines to water and the power of the feminine.
