New Artwork

I’m back from my annual visit to commune with the ocean in Pacific Grove, CA. I cleaned my studio before I left and found that I was very eager to start working again. I sewed the D-ring hangers on this piece, Boundary Waters #20, today AND have another work almost done. It’s good to take a break, come home, and feel the urge to create, create, and create some more.

There is a preview of other Boundary Waters pieces on my website.

Planet Textile Threads is an aggregator for fiber art blogs, including this one. Great photos and news from around the fiber world.

E-newsletter sent today

Your copy of Art, Nature, Creativity, Life should be in your mailbox if you are a subscriber to my free e-newsletter.

The essay in this newsletter is about Re-Vision, the necessity and the art of editing our own work.

The newsletter is published on an irregular basis and will become even more irregular this year as I return, at last, to my studio.

The photo is a detail of an artist book, Lost Garden, featured in the Behind The Scenes section of the newsletter.

Reverse Auction closes with a record!

Friday, March 16th, 2007

The Invitational Reverse Auction to benefit the American Cancer Society closed early at 10:30 a.m. with a record $6716 raised by only ten fiber artworks.

I applaud the generous artists who donated the artwork and the generous patrons who truly found artwork they loved. This raises the total donated by Fiberart For A Cause to the American Cancer Society to $130,000 in two years.

I don’t know about you, but I am amazed!

FiberARTS magazine

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

The April/May issue of FiberARTS magazine includes in its Sampling section what I believe (and hope) to be my last fiberart postcard. I sent it to my sister on Valentine’s Day and it was chosen as one of fifteen to be published in The Sampling section of the magazine. All 200 postcards can be seen online on the FiberARTS magazine website.

Don’t forget — tomorrow is the last day for the Invitational Reverse Auction to benefit the American Cancer Society. I’m expecting a last minute rush and will accept bids after midnight tonight at the March 16 minimum bid level.
