Jamie Fingal is known throughout the art quilt world for two things: Her joyful artwork and her philanthropy. Her artwork has appeared numerous times at International Quilt Festival where Jamie has also been an instructor. Jamie co-curates with Leslie Tucker Jenison juried exhibits under the Dinner at Eight Artists rubric. These exhibits travel throughout the United States and will be going overseas in 2013. Jamie’s artwork appears frequently in magazines and books; Jamie has appeared numerous times on Quilting Arts TV and stars in her own DVDs, Rebel Quilting and Whimsical House Quilt. If you need a little joy in your life, I strongly recommend subscribing to Jamie’s blog, Twisted Sister.

2. Describe your source of inspiration for your artwork.
I’m having sort of a love affair with Airstream trailers, and have a board on Pinterest titled “Trailer Park” to help me with my obsession. Trailers come in many different shapes, sizes and colors! Variety is the spice of life! One for everyone!
3. If you could switch to another medium as a career, what would it be? Why?
Welding comes to mind. I could make large flowers and houses with cups and saucers on the roofs and welded to poles, and planted in the ground! I would love to have them in my backyard!
4. Do you support any other good causes besides Fiberart For A Cause?

The House Quilt Project, established in 2010 to make welcome home house quilts for homes that Habitat for Humanity in Orange County builds. The project has expanded to include the Wounded Service Members, which encompasses all branches of the military. Patriotic house quilts are made by artists at their own expense, and distributed through THQP and Furnishing Hope.
5. What’s coming up for you in the near and far future?
Airstream Dreaming will be featured in the Summer 2013 edition of Quilting Arts Magazine.
Every night on Facebook, I ask the question “What’s for Dinner?” and now it will be a special exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, where artists can create their own quilt about what’s for dinner. Leslie Tucker Jenison and I will be the jurors! (Call for Entries here).
