Alaskan Inspiration Photos

Morning in Homer

I”m back after journeying about Alaska for three weeks. WOW on these fronts: mountains, trees, water, wildlife. AND coffee AND art (more about these two items in future posts.)

We visited these major areas and all the little stops in between: Anchorage, Valdez, Fairbanks, Denali, Seward, Homer. Besides Fairbanks (Hot Licks coffee/oreo ice cream - need I say more?), I most enjoyed the small towns such as Hope, the more isolated campsites and roadhouses, and the ocean. Today’s photos are three of the many that I plan on enlarging and framing for myself.

OMG, my husband is in Homer right now with a friend of his who surprised my husband with plane tickets to celebrate his 50th birthday! It’s beautiful there!

That dog food thang looks gross!

Wowza! I absolutely love the last photo “On the waterfront”. I’m sure you have many amazing photos of the bears, moose, salmon, etc. — not to mention the incredible scenery. Welcome home!

Angie and Karen - You know me - texture, pattern, form. That’s most of my photos. We do have a lot of great photos — how can you go wrong in Alaska? Thanks for stopping by! V.

Wow Virginia, fabulous photos! That first one is gorgeous!

    Virginia, these are spectacular photos!
I love the quality of light on the first one. It’s so wonderful to have everything come together like that when you’re a tourist & not a National Geographic photographer scouting that shot for hours or days!
You have a great eye for the abstract as seen in your 3rd shot.
    Thanks for sharing these gems.

Sue and Regina - Thank you! Yes, serendipity is all sometimes. V.

Welcome back Virginia, I look forward for further inspiration and eye candy!

Having lived in Alaska for 3 years, I can understand people’s first impressions of it’s many splendors!! All of you out there, if you ever want to be humbled by God’s great creations, I strongly urge to go to ALASKA!
And yes, they the BEST coffee! (People up there don’t go much for STARBUCK’S!!)

  9. admin Says:

Susan - I can’t say I saw a Starbucks and total YES on being awed. I thought it would be like the Boundary Waters, but somehow I forgot about MOUNTAINS. I can only imagine the thorns among the roses of daily living however. Thanks for stopping by, V.

Glad you enjoyed Alaska! I hope the weather was good to you, as we have not had much of a summer up here! It would have been fun to meet up with you while you were passing through Anchorage! I just live a bit north, in Eagle River. Glad you enjoyed your trip! Great photos!

Nancy - Beautiful area - lucky you! The best weather - just cool enough not to have bugs. I do hope to return to Alaska. This was a see-everything-we-can in three weeks journey with much discussion and much laughter among me, Joe, my sister and her husband. Total fun. Stand by for photos tomorrow of Alaska art I couldn’t resist. Thanks for writing, V.
