Congrats, Virginia! Quite a milestone for one year, and no one deserves it more than you. My favorite posts on your blog are the technique ones (and you can’t tell me that surprises you), though everything about it is wonderful. What I would like to see on your website is the ability to really zoom in on the artwork to see the details up close - having seem them in person, they are so much more impressive when you can get inches away. I wish I had the technical knowledge to tell you how that is done, but I know I’ve been on websites that let you zoom in closer and closer to see details. (Google the British artist Alison Holt and see what I mean.) I think your website is one of the best textile arts ones around, and how you manage it and this blog and your continuing support of ACS is beyond me. Keep up the fantastic work!

Your Garbage Day blog is my favorite. I love the way you photograph the trash in such an artful way - almost like “can you guess what this is?”. And I really like your beautiful photographs on this blog, whether they are of your own art work or of your inspirations. Hi Virginia,Congratulations–all those hits means we are all enjoying your blog and website! I particularly enjoy your posts from the workshop. I love to hear about the thought processes and inspirations that lead you to create your wonderful art. It’s comforting to know that even an accomplished artist such as yourself occasionally hits a wall, and eventually finds a way through or around it. That gives us all hope!
I guess my least favorite (as if I actually have a least favorite)is the Garbage Day Project, but hey, I read it too-one never knows how or where inspiration will stike!

I love the garbage day project. It brings about awareness of what we
throw away, and that we should do more recycle, recycle. Plus you have
shown me that there are many design possibilities in what is tossed.

I would love to see more ‘work in progress’, especially re how you get
from the idea to putting it on cloth.

Your work is wonderful, and I admire your many talents.

I particularly enjoy the Garbage Day Project and am in withdrawal now that you have suspended it until warmer weather.

Actually, what’s not to love? It’s all very colorful, thought-provoking and inspirational to me. As they say in these parts: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”!

I love best all the photos of your art work. I especially like when they involve the process of your art work as they do when you are an Artist in Residence. You could do more of that even when you are in residence at home. LOL

What I love best about your web site is that it is not cluttered. It is clean white space with black type and so easy to navigate. And, screen loading is quick.

What do I love to see the most? Photos, photos, and more photos. The types of posts I would like to see more of are those where you talk about your own artwork — your process, techniques, inspirations, etc. The types of posts I like the least are those that just contain announcements, with none of your own artwork or photos. Hey, I’m prejudiced - I love your work!

Hi Virginia,

It’s me again. Here is my one suggestion. The blue in the header on the Garbage Day blog is too intense. The Garbage Day project feels “green” to me. I love it as it reminds me of how I should care more about what I buy and what I throw away. I think the header should be more organic and green. LOL
