Over $190,000 to the American Cancer Society

My niece, Jenny, and my Dad three years ago at our Relay For Life. My Dad, a colon cancer survivor, is STILL HERE!
Yesterday closed out Collage Mania, our three-day art extravaganza. Thanks to generous fiber artists and their patrons, we raised over $18,000 in just three days. All of the acquired collages will remain up as a resource for the artistic community.
Our grand total for just over four years of fundraising is now MORE THAN $190,000 donated to the American Cancer Society. We have proven the ability of fiber artists and their patrons to really make a difference and raise significant amounts for a good cause.
We have made a very effective and creative fundraising team; I thank each of you for your generosity and support. Special thanks go to our Honorary Chair, Karey Bresenhan, a mentor for life and fundraising. And Collage Mania wouldn’t have happened this year without Karen Stiehl Osborn stepping forward and donating her time and effort.
This was the last of the big Fiberart For A Cause fundraisers as I return to my studio after more than four years of fundraising. FFAC will still be quietly raising funds for the ACS with my eBook, the FFAC store, and smaller fundraising events organized by supporters of FFAC.
I will be taking a little break from fundraising and the computer this summer Time to enjoy the great outdoors and, yes, my studio. I hope you do the same!
Mal – The best project always have a lovely synergy! V.
Congratulations on the amazing efforts. I’m an art therapist who works in the oncology floor of a hospital and I think it’s just wonderful how you combined good creative energy with such an important cause. Good for you!
Thank you, Terry!
Thanks, Andrew! Ironic on the last name, no? Great organization and great fundraisers. Glad you mentioned your group here. V.
Linda – Thank you! Karen convinced me to do Collage Mania one last time and carried the day – thanks, Karen! V.
Virginia, I am in total awe of you and your level of energy for this cause. And now I’ll be looking forward to seeing more of your work … after a nice rest, I hope! ;^)
Karen, having stepped up to take on a lot of the work for this year’s Collage Mania, is also in my Book of People I Would Like to Grow Up To Be.
Thanks for the memories!
Congrats Virginia. Your dad should be proud. And congrats to him on being a survivor. You and he should consider joining the CCA. We are the oldest and largest patient advocacy organization dedicated to colon cancer. Maybe you will want to get involved with our 5K runs, the undy5000.org or with a local chapter. Anyway, nice work and nice last name!

Virginia, it has been such an honor to have contributed art for your fundraisers. Your recognition of the artists is very gracious, but your inspiration, organization, good humor, determination and hard work are what really made it all happen. You really are a hero to me and lots of others. Enjoy your studio time. You’ve earned it!
Judy – You are welcome. But full credit must go to the fiber artists and patrons who are so generous.
Virginia, as a cancer survivor, may I just say THANK YOU for everything you have done to raise funds over the last four years!
