There are goodies in here that span seven decades, including many different colors of yarn, wonderful vintage buttons and beads that are probably from the 50's (some still on their original cards), handmade and old commercial lace yardage, elaborate handmade crochet doilies and trims, vintage silk scarves to cut up, 50's fabrics, the Stitch Sampler book of embroidery stitches, and lots of texture! |

Collage. 6x5"
The central image, the heart, is printed with a stamp Elin carved for a "block print a day" project that she did in 2008. She carved or otherwise created a stamp every day for each of the 366 days in 2008; this was her image for Valentine's Day. The heart is printed on a new material (developed for the Italian fashion industry and made of recycled paper and plant fibers) and collaged with commercial fabric. The artwork is embellished with silver, bronze and gold seed beads.

Knitted Toys
Sponsored by Lynn Krawczyk
$75 was donated to the ACS by Linda Schiffer.
Knitting has, on more than one occasion, helped me to refocus and relax during stressful times. It’s a fiber art that has been around for centuries, with the earliest knitted object dating back to the 14th century. Knowing that so many others have gone before me with this art form adds to my growing affection toward it. Two areas that I have especially grown to love are knitting socks and knitting toys. There is nothing cozier than a pair of hand knitted socks in your favorite colors or a unique hand knitted toy full of personality. I’m please to offer this tote (with one more to follow next week) in support of Fiberart For A Cause and the American Cancer Society and I hope that they bring you many moments of happiness too!
