Jane Davila began her professional art career as a printmaker, specializing in etchings and intaglios. Her prints have been exhibited internationally and are in many private and corporate collections around the world. Although she now lives in Connecticut, the experience of living in Peru has had a lasting impact on her appreciation for the diversity of cultural expression and iconography, which shows up as a theme in her work.
Jane began her journey into fabric and fiber in 1990 when her mother opened a quilt shop and invited her to join the business. The addition of paper to her art quilts and the exploration of printmaking techniques on fabric bring her two favorite media together. For the past 16 years she has encouraged her students to experiment, to push boundaries and to grow as artists. She is the co-author, with Elin Waterston, of Art Quilt Workbook (C&T Publishing, 2007).
