Boundary Waters Series





Ten notebooks stuffed full of notes, sketches, poetry and photographs from my journeys in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) inspired this series of textile constructions focusing on water, tree, rock and sky.

The BWCAW, a million acres of water and trees along the Canadian/ Minnesota border, has been set aside as one of the last places where Mother Nature, and not humans, reigns supreme. 

 The majority of these works are very long and narrow to mimic the horizon line viewed from a canoe. Many of the works can be viewed as long, unrolled scrolls or a series of journal pages designed to be read from left to right with new details emerging with each "reading."
