Spiral Dance 1: Carnivale is the first piece in a new series that explores my fascination with the spiral shape, and with the way that plants can move in air or water so that they appear to be dancing to a song humans can't quite hear. It is created using commercial cotton fabrics and raw-edge appliqué, along with extensive machine quilting.

Quilt artist Deb Richardson studied art to become a painter, but moved into the world of fiber 15 years ago and never looked back. Her award-winning quilts, which have appeared in various publications, have been exhibited throughout the United States and in New Zealand, and are in numerous private collections. She has had artwork published in Quilting Arts, Quilter's Newsletter, and New Zealand Quilter magazines.
