Pamela Allen (BFA 1982) has been a full time artist for 24 years. But only since 2002 has she discovered the pleasures of fabric. She has taught her quirky style of art quilts internationally, exhibited widely in the US, Canada and overseas, and has had her work published in several magazines and books (among them Quilting Arts and Quilters Newsletter Magazine). Her quilts have won several awards in national festivals including the International Quilt Festival - Chicago. It's like painting for me....just put on lovely pieces of fabric....anything will do...sew them down, add more, add line with embroidery cotton, take some off, add more fabric shapes, quilt pictures into the composition, add more embellishments...anything will do....... I like to depict everyday events and happenings. It doesn't worry me that they may not be SERIOUS or UNIVERSAL themes but I believe many people relate to common daily concerns and experiences. Our individual lives ARE important!
