Not only did I like the differences in colors and texture here, but the plastic bag in a plastic bag situation is always cause for note. If you go to my other blog, you will see why my Garbage Day Project loop today was very short. Maybe I should take my winter hiatus in February.

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008It’s not every day that one object is featured in both the main photo and Amazing Things A Garbage Truck Can Crush. There is just something so disgustingly beautiful about the stains and the feather pattern.
Amazing Things A Garbage Truck Can Crush

These photos were taken last week; what a gold mind that was! This week is a foot of snow, below zero wind chills and 7 a.m. garbage trucks. Ah, for the glories of summer.
Consider participating in the 11th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count February 15 – 18, 2008. The Great Backyard Bird Count is led by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, with sponsorship from Wild Birds Unlimited. It takes only 15 minutes; all the information is here.

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008Welcome back! I thought I would have a little The Garbage Day Project party today to celebrate.
So let’s start out with credit for the NEW LOGO designed just because she thought I needed a better one (and I did!) by reader, Elaine Millar. Credit for spending over an hour wrestling it on to Wordpress goes to my highly recommended web host, Van Van Horn (vanhorn(at)whidbey.com) Thanks to both!
Today’s photo pretty much picked up where we left off in December, right down to festive holiday trash. How odd to see these three items so widely spaced out – ready to travel. Just so desolate. I passed by again on my way home and look what happened – garbage loves company!

Not only is it big, it’s yellow!
AND new Garbage Art

Blue Tube
This is a plastic square tube that I have had for a couple of months. I’m not sure, but I think it was a curtain rod box. In any case, it is filled with Shnibbles (pieces from my fabric work that are too small to use, but since I had to paint every last scrap, too good to throw away.).
I was tempted to call it Archeology as I could see as I dug through the container how my work had been purple, then blue, then black. Hard to photograph without glare, but it is just a joy to look at, first the gestalt of the layers and then seeing the individual pieces that make up the layers. I wish I had about twenty of these; power in numbers.
AND

This photo from TGDP was used to illustrate a story on the Tree Hugger site, AFTER they asked permission, of course.
Whew! See you next week on the trail of garbage, art and recycling.
