This was a variety of bags all stuffed in a garbage can. Very neutral, but full of texture and contrast.

Well, this is it for The Garbage Day Project blog. As I noted Tuesday, it has become harder and harder to actually be able to photograph the garbage as the garbage guys are now coming before sunrise.

I started The Garbage Day Blog two years ago today on my website when the cooperating garbage guys didn’t come until the middle of the afternoon. It was meant as a tongue-in-cheek look at all the garbage generating by one little neighborhood. It’s been fun for me and I’m still amazed by (and not very happy) about the amount of stuff going in the garbage truck.

I hope you will stop by my other blog as I will be featuring garbage photos there occasionally.

I thank you for your readership and for checking out the garbage with me these past two years.

Warm regards, Virginia

This Friday is the second anniversary of The Garbage Day Project and I will be posting a new photo here in celebration and in farewell. Yes, farewell. I have decided that the darkness and crazy schedule of the garbage guys has made it impossible for me continue. More on Friday about garbage-related plans for the future.

I voted; have you?

It’s dark here now at 6:00 p.m. and not light enough for photography until almost 7:30 a.m. The Garbage Day Project will be going on winter hiatus starting December 1. I’m hoping that by Spring the garbage guys will have stopped doing pick-up in the dark.

Revolution
The bottom of an old washtub. What beautiful patina! Both the garbage guys and I can’t figure out if this was left as garbage or is a semi-permanent garbage holder.
How about this as a garbage container?

It’s always great when there is something goofy in the garbage. This lamp just seemed so incongruous poking out of a garbage can.
You know I love to photograph chairs set out for the garbage. Here’s a dandy:
